They Came, They Saw, They Stored

My sons, daughter-in-law, and her sister plus my daughter and granddaughter came this weekend to move boxes to storage and large items to bulk pickup. And have a last Easter egg hunt at the house.

I’m Still Finding Eggs She Missed.

Saturday they loaded middle son's pickup truck and created a Tetras game in my little storage unit. I have not dared go see it, however I am assured that I will be able to get to the camping equipment and holiday decorations without problem.

All the while, my husband cooked Easter dinner with a minimum of help and supervision. Three of us had bought asparagus. It seemed a mountain, but it all disappeared, spear by spear. Dinner was bitter sweet. Nice to have so much of our family there; sad to have it be the last. Where will we be next Easter?

The final project was to carry the non-desirable furniture out to the road for bulk pickup. Desk, nightstands, file cabinet, bed, sleep sofa, glass table all deemed too old for any of the thrift stores. Younger son put a curb-side pickup notice on Craig's list. Perhaps some things will find a new home.

Update:
We had visited neighbors to apologize we were putting things out a week too early, since we will be away the weekend before pickup date. They were sympathetic. The city not so much, nor the son of our neighbor who is in the hospital. Somehow, I thought they would be concentrating on her getting better or at least to a decent nursing home. Silly me. By the next morning, there were large, bright orange labels slapped on the desk and sofa.
Sunday Morning, My Tax Dollars At Work With Code Enforcement
Since the trucks won't come down the narrow, tree-lined street to our lot, we have to drag our trash, recycling, and yard waste plus bulk pickup down and over a block. I feel no guilt this one time breaking the rules. No one has ever offered us a break on our property tax.
