Donating is Hard

The nice young man who off-loaded my car at Faith Farm also filled out a ticket to schedule a furniture pick up on Thursday. Oh, no, they don't take book cases. They recommend Habit for Humanity. Then a co-worker mentioned that it was actually up to the driver. Those book cases will be out next to the garage in all their perfect, recently-dusted glory.




And they will be empty of the complete sets of Great Books and Gateway to the Great Books. So much knowledge, however if I didn't get to it in the last 25 years, I'm probably not going to in the next 6 weeks. Plus I checked Ebay. I can always replace them if I get too lonely. Even though I swore I wouldn't, I did put the books up for free on Craig's List. Bulk trash may be in their future.

Home Sweet Home We have a contract on our house. If all goes well, closing is April 1st. After a year having it on the market, suddenly it's 6 weeks until we move. After a year of diddling at de-cluttering  per FlyLady and watching Marie Kondo on Netflix, time to get our butt in gear. This is a record of how we do. After living in our 3/2 house for 40 years (bought in April, 1979), raising 4 children in it (2 born at home), we plan to move to a 2-bedroom apartment for the next year. We will be ruthless in paring. That is the plan. We are not going to find the best home for all our stuff. We are not going to have a garage sale. We are not going to sell on Craig's List. All good things. We are going to give away as much as we can. We are going to put piles out for bulk pickup. We are going to grieve, and we are going to celebrate.

Toastmasters Speech Contest 3rd Place The good news is that I do not need an implant. Since having a cold, then sinus infection back in December, my upper right molars have ached. Ignoring the pain did not seem to cure it. Perhaps because it was due to the cavity and bad crown which the dentist pointed out on my x-ray. He wouldn't know if I would need an implant or could get by with another crown until he removed the current one. At my second visit, with much drilling, he got the old crown off and deemed the remaining tooth good enough for another crown. After questioning of the dentist and debating with myself, I've decided to replace it with a gold one. It adds $300-$400 to the $600 bill, but may last the rest of my life, unlike the 7-10 years for other types.  I've had a gold bridge since 1970, back when gold was $35/ounce. They Came, They Saw, They Stored

My sons, daughter-in-law, and her sister plus my daughter and granddaughter came this weekend to move boxes to storage and large items to bulk pickup. And have a last Easter egg hunt at the house. My Granddaughter’s Loot. I’m Still Finding Eggs She Missed. Saturday they loaded middle son's pickup truck and created a Tetras game in my little storage unit. I have not dared go see it, however I am assured that I will be able to get to the camping equipment and holiday decorations without problem. All the while, my husband cooked Easter dinner with a minimum of help and supervision. Three of us had bought asparagus. It seemed a mountain, but it all disappeared, spear by spear. Dinner was bitter sweet. Nice to have so much of our family there; sad to have it be the last. Where will we be next Easter?
